Republican debate: Ramaswamy campaign gloats the ‘blood’ on floor ‘wasn’t Vivek’s’

MILWAUKEE — Vivek Ramaswamy took plenty of heat during Wednesday night’s debate, and his campaign says he’s better for it.

Tricia McLaughlin, the Ramaswamy campaign’s communications director, said it’s now Vivek vs. the establishment.

“[The attacks] show that Vivek is a direct threat to the GOP establishment,” she said. “Tonight really was Vivek Ramaswamy vs. the establishment, and he dominated.”

Ramaswamy, 38, had notable heated exchanges with former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley; the attention likely owes to his recent surge in the polls.

McLaughlin said voters are ready for a new face.

“If your car has crashed 10 times, do you return the keys to the same person?” she said. “No, and that’s exactly Vivek’s point. Maybe we do need any outsider to actually handle our foreign policy and get our affairs back in order.”

She also called him out as the winner in all his battles.

“There’s blood on the floor, and it wasn’t Vivek’s,” McLaughlin said.
