Hoxworth Blood serves over 30 hospitals and medical centers in the area and collects more than 100,000 units of blood products to aid in saving lives. Since trauma and accidents are typically high in the summer due to vacations and summer activities, the blood supplier said the current need for donations is critical.
Brynn Schulte, a 4-year-old diagnosed with Factor XIII, an extremely rare blood disorder, is a perfect example of those in need of blood donations. Brynn’s mother said she plans to celebrate her life milestone by hosting a community blood drive to pay it forward.
“It remains my mission, and will continue to be, year over year, to bring awareness to the lifesaving, selfless act of donating blood. It is literally and figuratively the heartbeat of our family. It gives our Brynn life,” Lindsay Schulte said in a press release.
Lindsay and Brynn will also be at Hoxworth Blue Ash on Friday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts.
