Blood drives being held in area to help donation shortage

The American Red Cross has seen a decline in blood and platelet donations all summer and has declared a national blood shortage.

There was a 30,000 blood and platelet donation shortfall in August, and stormy weather, including hurricanes, has forced dozens of blood drive cancellations, the Red Cross said.
