Roswell Animal Services closes temporarily due to infections

Roswell Animal Services will stop taking in pets unless for an emergency after an increase in infections. The city made the discovery on Sept. 27.The city of Roswell is looking to address a high presence of upper respiratory infections. This comes after a dog from the shelter was found to have canine distemper virus by a veterinarian.The shelter located at 705 E. McGaffey St. will still see animals in emergency cases of animal control or animal cruelty. It can also impound dogs that pose a threat to the community.Roswell is asking for owners of newly adopted dogs from the shelter to monitor them for signs of illness. The animal shelter could reopen after test results come back and possible health concerns are mitigated.
