Inova Health System Seeks O+ Blood Donors

The Inova Health System’s blood supply has reached critically low levels, with a dire need for type O+ blood donors. 

According to the announcement, there is less than a one-day supply of type O blood. Inova Blood Donor Services supports all five Inova hospitals, as well as 13 other hospitals in the region.

Inova urges residents to make an appointment or walk-in one of its blood donation centers that are open seven days a week or make appointments to donate during an upcoming blood drive site. 

The Loudoun County Fire Rescue will host a blood drive Friday, Oct. 13 at its headquarters on Miller Drive in Leesburg. Other upcoming blood drives in the region include:

· Friday, Oct. 6: Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company Blood Drive

· Sunday, Oct. 8: Special O- Blood Donor Event, Centreville, VA

· Sunday, Oct. 8: Acacia Lodge at Clifton Day Blood Drive

· Wednesday, Oct. 11: Burke Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept. Blood Drive
