Light The Night Vegas Honoring Those Touched By Blood Cancer

Statistics show that every year about 720,000 people worldwide die from blood cancer.

That number comes from Bristol Myers Squibb, who reports that blood cancer accounts for 7% of all cancer deaths. Furthermore, they report that an estimated 1.24 million blood cancer cases occur every year. Which accounts for approximately 6% of all cancer cases worldwide.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the the world’s largest nonprofit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research. Besides raising funds for this important mission, the organization also aims to foster education and to provide patient services for those affected by it.

LLS is hosting their annual Light The Night event on November 4th, 2023.

The event will be on the College of Southern Nevada West Charleston Campus. Located at 6375 W Charleston Blvd. The festival-style event will be from 5-8pm and offer a variety of activities for guests. Kids can enjoy face painting and bounce houses in the kid zone. There will also be live music as well as food trucks on site for those who wish to purchase food. An opening ceremony will occur at 6:15pm followed by a 1-mile walk. The evening will close with a firework show finale.

The Light The Night event brings the community together to celebrate, honor, and remember those touched by blood cancers. The event also serves to raise funds. Which are used for lifesaving research, advocacy and support for blood cancer patients and their families. The fundraising goal for this year’s Light The Night event is $575,000. Participants can raise donations ahead of time or donate at the event at the Donation Collection tent.

There will also be a virtual option for the event, for those who are immunocompromised or otherwise unable to attend in person. If possible, participants should register early. Registration is free and available at lightthenight.org.
