Health fair, blood drive and more area health news

HOSPITALITY HEALTH FAIR:  A health fair with 10 screenings and vaccinations, including blood pressure checks, COVID and flu vaccinations, diabetes checks and more, will be at 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 15, at Champions Square on Lasalle Street in New Orleans. A free shuttle from Hilton Riverside and New Orleans Marriott to Champions Square is available 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and free parking at Garage 2A.

BLOOD DRIVE: The Blood Center will hold a drive Nov. 19, 8:20 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the gym at St Pius X Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd. in New Orleans. Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are encouraged. www.tbcdonors.org 

DAISY AWARDS: Ten Ochsner Medical Center-New Orleans nurses received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award celebrates nurses internationally for their dedication, excellence in clinical care and compassion. Award winners were Larrie Arceneaux, RN, post operative surgical services; Meg E. Darre, RN, ear, nose, & throat clinic; Nicole Fajardo, RN, day of surgery center; Corey Gilpin, RN, transplant stepdown unit; Renee Guido, RN, medical intensive care unit; Danielle LaCour, RN, pediatric intensive care unit; Caitlin Miller, RN, surgical intensive care unit; Bhakti Patel, RN, cardiac stepdown unit; Daniel Schulingkamp III, RN, day of surgery center; and Amy Vanzo, RN, day of surgery center.
